Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe is from a multicultural family. Born in South London. She has a father who is Nigerian as well as Swiss and her mom is English. She grew up on a south London council estate and attended The Brit School at age fourteen. In London she attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where her acting certificate was awarded. As a student at the academy, she appeared in numerous stage productions including the King Henry V as Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe's acting journey began in the series Storm Damage. Since then Madekwe's appearance in Teachers and Doctors. Madekwe's first film of debut was her role in the Woody Allen 2007 film Cassandra's Dream. She starred opposite Colin Farrell & Ewan MacGregor. Her success has led her to be cast in Elisha in a one-off BBC Three drama West 10 LDN pilot, then appear in the six-episode series Trexx and Flipside in the role of Ollie. In 2008, Madekwe landed Bambi who was the leading character on ITV2's show Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe made an appearance in the 2008 comedy feature film How to Lose Friends & Get People to Leave. Her credits in the theatre are Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) and Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe's US debut came in 2009 when she appeared on her dramatic The Beautiful Life. The series aired only two episodes prior to being cancelled on The CW. Ashley Davenport, a character from ABC's Revenge drama, was chosen to play Ashley Davenport. Madekwe was in the episodes of the series' second season as a regular. But in May of 2013, it was announced that word broke that the actress would leave the show after her guest appearance on the first episode of the series' third season. In the television series Salem in 2014, she portrayed Tituba from 2014 until 2016. Madekwe and her partner of many years, Iddo Goldenberg, were married in June 2012. They collaborated in the film Secret Diary of a Call Girl. He also played with Madekwe in Salem.
Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into a large, extended family. Her parents were Roy and Patty as well as her four brothers -Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley was raised in the arenas and baseball parks since her four athletic brothers all were hockey players, baseball players, and both in the spring and summer. Ashley couldn't walk, however she was able to dance. In the end, at the age of 2 when she was two, she began to learn about Baby Ballet. Ashley became a dancer since that time. Ashley was a top competitor in divisions in jazz, tap ballet, hip hop, lyrical musical theatre, acrobatics and pointe until she graduated high school. All of the major dance festivals, like International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and others, have awarded her with the title "top Soloist".
